How To Read the Taekwondo Kick Charts

What do the numbers mean?

#1 KIcks - If you have one foot forward in a fighting stance...you kick with your front leg.

#2 Kicks - If you are in a fighting stance...you kick with your back leg.

#3 Kicks - You step or slide up your back foot to your front foot and kick with your front leg.

#4 Kicks - Reverse kicking - Also known as spinning kicks.  You turn backwards 180 degrees and kick with your back leg.

#5 Kicks - #1 Jump Kick - Jump with both feet & kick with the front leg.

#6 Kicks - #3 Jump Kick - Elevate back leg forward and kick with the front leg.

What does RLB & LLB mean?

You will see this under the column "Stance".  It means that you will start your kicks from either the RLB (Right Leg Back)    or LLB (Left Leg Back)  position.  Remember to practice both right and left sides.

If you see (......) that means that you will do all those kicks with the same foot, in succession without putting the foot down.   An example:  (Right Leg #1 Front Kick, Round Kick, Hook Kick) - You would lift the Right front leg and execute a front kick then turn into a round kick positon and execute a round kick and then a hook kick...all done without putting the foot on the floor.
